The brewing industry unites science and practical application in an extraordinary way. For more than 60 years, the journal BrewingScience and its predecessors have served as a platform for the dissemination of knowledge not only among researchers but also between the scientific community and the brewing industry. The time has come to recognize the efforts of brewing scientists in the form of an award for excellence in research.
The publishing house Fachverlag Hans Carl and the Weihenstephan Jubiläumsstiftung 1905 im Verband ehemaliger Weihenstephaner der Brauerabteilung e.V. are very pleased to be able to bring this idea to life. They have found a namesake for this award, a person who over many decades has helped shape brewing science and who likewise has played an instrumental role in promoting its practical application.
Therefore, the journal BrewingScience, a publication of the Fachverlag Hans Carl of Nuremberg, is proud to announce that the
will be presented for the first time ever in 2015. An article appearing in the journal BrewingScience will be selected in which scientific results are found to be particularly relevant for implementation in the brewing industry. The author(s) will then be honored with an award.
Especially the former doctoral students of Prof. Ludwig Narziß have been actively involved in planning and organizing this project. The concept will be introduced in BRAUWELT International issue 4, 2015. (http://www.brauweltinternational.com) Thanks to the commitment of this group of former doctoral students funding is already available for the first award ceremony in November 2015.
However, we would be very pleased if companies or individuals with an interest in brewing science cold further support the project financially in order to honor Prof. Narziß for his achievements in the long term.
